Distribution pattern
With quite limited patchy distribution, covering the zone above the tree line in the mountains Rila, Pirin, Vitosha, Central and Western Stara Planina, Western Rhodopеs and Slavyanka.

Habitats
Breeds mainly in alpine and subalpine grasslands, blanket bogs, and wetlands scattered with rocks and boulders, often near screes, inland cliffs and exposed rocks and other landscape elements inherent in the high mountains.
