Distribution pattern

Everywhere in open fields throughout the country without the areas with vast and dense forests and the very mountainous parts of the higher mountains. Absent in particular-mountainous areas with predominantly hilly relief and limited open spaces such as some parts of the Eastern Rhodopes and the Western frontier mountains.

Habitats

Breeds on a variety of open fields – pastures, meadows, roadside tree strips and field boundaries, especially on the edges of fields and arable land, waste lands, on dry siliceous grasslands, mesophilic grasslands, steppe and dry calcareous grasslands, orchards, tree and shrub plantations, strips of trees, shrubs and mosaics of them along roads, as well as on the outskirts of towns, villages and industrial zones.
