Distribution pattern
With patchy and dispersed distribution in most of the country, mainly on open rocky terrains in the foothills and low mountain areas of southern and eastern Bulgaria, but also in karst and steppe regions in the Danubian Plan and Dobrudzha. Absent or with isolated localities in the plains, especially in areas with intensive agriculture and forest cover, including those in the mountains.

Habitats
Breeds mainly in scrub and grasslands, especially in dry, sunny, stony and grassy areas and pastures with sparse shrubs on slopes, ridges and plains mixed with single or groups of trees or highly sparse groves, always close to grassy areas, wastelands; in old growth or abandoned orchards, tree and bush plantations, and above all in vineyards, gardens, lavender plantations, etc.
