Distribution pattern
Widespread in open terrains throughout the country without mountainous areas and areas with extensive and dense forests. Breeds, also, on the open mountain ridges of Rila, Pirin, Western Rhodopes, Stara Planina and Osogovo Mountains.

Habitats
Breeds mainly in crops and other (annual) grasses in pastures, meadows, perennial grasses, wastelands and other open areas, sometimes in alpine and subalpine grasslands, extensive and overgrown with vegetation dunes, and on open areas between residential buildings, the outskirts of large towns, villages and industrial zones.
