Distribution pattern

With patchy and dispersed distribution throughout the country, more compact in Strandzha, in the coastal part of Eastern Stara Planina and around Varna, in isolated parts of the Western and Central Stara Planina. In the rest of the country with dispersed, usually single and temporary breeding sites.

Habitats

Breeds in broad-leaved deciduous forests (especially in forests of Fagus sylvatica and Quercus sp.), in towns, villages and industrial areas (mainly on old buildings in settlements with both compact and spread out yards), in alluvial and riverine forests and brush, less common in screes near coniferous forests, inland cliffs and exposed rocks with tree and bushy vegetation around them.
