Distribution pattern

With limited patchy distribution, concentrated in the higher parts of the mountains in the Rila-Rhodope Massif, Central and Western Stara Planina, Vitosha, Sredna Gora and with single breeding sites in the Eastern Stara Planina, the Eastern Rhodopes, etc.

Habitats

Breeds mainly in coniferous forests, as well as in mixed forests with abundant undergrowth of bushes and young coniferous trees. Less often in public parks and gardens (mainly of forest type) and other places with predominant tree vegetation, especially in mountain villages and areas with summerhouses at higher altitudes with rich undergrowth.
