Distribution pattern

With patchy and dispersed distribution in most of the country, mainly in the mountains and plains with forests. Does not occur in predominantly agricultural areas (considerable parts of the Danubian Plain, the Thracian Plain, the Burgas lowland, etc.).

Habitats

Breeds mainly in older broad – leaved deciduous forests, but also in alluvial and riverine forests and brush, mixed forests, coniferous forests. Inhabits large public parks and gardens, and other forested areas in towns, villages and industrial zones, as well as in areas with summerhouses, old orchards, and tree and shrub plantations.
