Distribution pattern
Patchy distribution over the whole country except for the middle and the high parts of the mountains and the predominantly agricultural areas in the Danubian Plain, the Thracian Plain, Dobrudzha, the Burgas Plain, etc. Isolated breeding grounds or located in neighbouring squares exist in Ludogorie, Lomovete, the hilly areas around the Tundzha River, etc.

Habitats
Breeds on scattered trees with hollows in strips of trees, shrubs and patches of them, sometimes in abandoned or older orchards, tree and shrub plantations mixed with bushes and open meadows, especially on slopes. It is also found in sparse groves with hollow trees, less often in remote yards of neighbourhoods or villages with scattered yards, sometimes in poorly maintained parks and gardens or on the outskirts.
