Distribution pattern

With patchy and dispersed distribution in most of the country, more dense distribution in the low – mountain and fore – mountain areas (Strandzha, Eastern Rhodopes, Eastern Stara Planina, Sredna Gora, Western Frontier Mountains, Southern Pirin, etc.), but also in plains (Ludogorie, Dobrudzha). Avoids the areas with predominance of arable lands (Danubian plain, Thracian Plain, etc.).

Habitats

Breeds in sparse broad-leaved deciduous forests with dense undergrowth, also in other forest habitats, Sclerophyllous scrub mixed with single or grouped deciduous trees, old or abandoned orchards, tree and shrub plantations, sometimes in strips of trees, shrubs and mosaics of them, in public parks and gardens rich in woody and bushy vegetation.
