Distribution pattern
With patchy distribution, more dense in South-eastern Bulgaria (Eastern Rhodopes, Sakar, Derventa Hills, Strandzha and along the Southern Black Sea coast to Cape Emine) and in Southwestern Bulgaria (the valleys of the rivers Struma and Mesta and Southern Pirin). With single breeding sites along the Northern Black Sea coast, in the Thracian Plain, the areas along the Tundzha Valley, the southern parts of Eastern Stara Planina and along the eastern part of the Danube River.

Habitats
Breeds mainly in sclerophyllous scrub; especially in combination with single or groups of trees or sparse forests with undergrowth, (probably trees are among the requirements for a breeding habitat). In some areas, numerous breeding sites in very sparse self – grown xerophilous oak (Quercus sp.) forests, in overgrown with bushes orchards, tree and shrub plantations, and strips of trees, strips of trees, shrubs and mosaics of them. Breeds also in public parks and large gardens, as well as in other areas in the settlements along the Black Sea coast (Ahtopol), Eastern Rhodopes (Ivaylovgrad), etc. Found also in the edges of alluvial and riverine forests and brush (next to the jetty of the Ropotamo River).
