Population size: 0 pairs
Distribution pattern
Separate observations of single adult birds in different hilly and low mountainous parts of the country have been made: on May 13, 2003 near the village of Studen Kladenets, Krumovgrad District; on June 14, 2004 near the village of Kaloyanovo, Sliven District; on May 15, 2005 near Harmanli and on July 25, 2005 near the village of Golyamo Krushevo, Yambol District. Isolated observations from different parts of the country have been made in the last few years, but there is no data on breeding. Given that the breeding area is far from Bulgaria, it is assumed that these are stray birds.
Comparative distribution of the species compared to the first breeding birds atlas (Iankov, 2007): Breeding locality until 2007 | Breeding locality until 2007, confirmed after 2015 – | New breeding locality after 2015. – The breeding localities after 2015 are identified on a base of raw data from smartbirds.org.
Habitats
The species have been observed in habitats with a mixture of shrubs and grass communities and broad-leaved deciduous forests, near standing fresh waters, fields with crops and other (annual) grass species and strips of trees, shrubs and patches of them.
