Distribution pattern
With patchy and dispersed distribution in the plains mainly in Northern Bulgaria, more densely in areas in the Danubian Plain, the Sofia Field, the areas along the Tundzha river and in the Karnobat Plain. The southernmost colonies are in Sakar, along the Maritsa River and along the Struma River. Breeds mainly in settlements, and if undisturbed may occupy the same sites for years.

Habitats
Breeds mainly in strips of trees, shrubs and mosaics of them, both outside and in towns, villages and industrial zones, where it often occupies small groves, especially of Robinia pseudoacacia, in public parks and gardens, in tree and shrub plantations (most often of Populus sp.), less often in open broad-leaved deciduous forests.
