Distribution pattern
Isolated single localities are known in the Thracian Plain, in South-eastern Bulgaria and in the Danube plain. Probably more breeding sites shall be discovered.

Habitats
Single individuals and pairs were observed in wetlands or open spaces near grass communities in wetlands, bogs and marshes, in particular in riparian and spring wetlands and water fringe vegetation in water bodies, as well as in rice paddies.
