Distribution pattern
With limited patchy distribution close to rocky areas with specific exposure and microclimate, mainly in the higher rocky parts of the Rila-Rhodope Massif and Central Stara Planina, but also in lower areas in these mountains.

Habitats
Breeds exclusively on inland cliffs and exposed rocks, and sometimes close to entrances of caves. There are two types of exposed rocks preferred for nesting – in the high parts of the mountains (above the tree line) and in river valleys and gorges at lower altitudes. In the alpine zone breeds in the walls of chalets, substations and other isolated buildings in the mountains.
